Each wood home altar is made by hand by our friends in Brazil using beautiful and unique pieces of Imbuia wood with space for a St. Benedict crucifix and stunning original illustrated prayer card designs by Chris @barituscatholic. The Crucifixes are lovingly designed and assembled by talented Italian craftsmen. Sanctify your desk, dorm room, or any other small space.

    Perfect describes the Home Altar

    I bought the home altar for my desk; so, when I am working I can be reminded to thank God for all my blessings. It’s well made and they paid attention to detail. This is the second home altar I’ve bought from the Catholic Woodworker.

    The delivery was as promised and the website is easy to use. Two thumbs up or five stars.

    Recommendations: The only thing I can think to improve would be the cards. If they were plastic all the way through this product would be perfect.
    Amazing Craftsmanship

    The wooden base looks great. It has even stain and finish on all three sides. It doesn't have stain or finish on the bottom, which might seem like an oversight but if you put two finished products together and have a muggy or warm day then they will stick together. This is indicative of the thought and professionalism that goes into this product. The only roughness I could find on the base is in the hole where the crucifix base goes so it's covered up. The crucifix base fits in the hole perfectly with no play but not so snug that it needs to be forced in or out. Perfect.

    The crucifix itself is heavy for it's size and very sturdy. The white epoxy is even and has no dimples in the surface. The figurine, plaque and St. Benedict Crest's are sharp and easy to read with lots of detail. I like to hold things in my hands when I pray, the crucifix is the perfect size for this but it's uncomfortable with the round base. To my surprise the base comes off. I don't recommend this as it was hard to do and only came off because I was very determined about it. That said, I didn't have to use tools because the base is pressure fit on the crucifix. It is well enough made that it doesn't show signs of wear from taking it apart multiple times. I don't recommend this as it's not the intended purpose of the product.

    The cards are very detailed and in colour. They have a very quality feel to them, almost rubbery. They come in baggies which protects them, which is nice. At first I thought they were plastic all the way through because they were so well done. On closer look I think they are cardboard in the middle. Easy to read and very nice to look at while saying your prayers.

    Overall I love this product. It well made and the perfect choice for dedicating a small space to prayer.
