St. Michael is a powerful archangel, chief commander of the heavenly hosts. He was given special power by God to defend the Church, and works tirelessly to cast satan and his other fallen brothers into hell where they belong. His name, which translates to “who is like God?” is his war cry against the capital sin of pride.
The classic image we chose for this medal depicts the archangel wielding a sword in his right hand and balancing the scales of justice in his left hand. The devil is stomped under his feet, crawling on his belly amidst the flames of hell.
We can invoke the help of St. Michael as we fight the spiritual battles of daily life, especially the battles within! St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!
