Every Mission Rosary we build starts with a story, and the story shapes the materials. The Refuge of Sinners Rosary was designed around the light Our Lady of Guadalupe brought to a continent standing in darkness.

Materials Chosen for the Story
We wanted this rosary to capture a specific contrast: the darkness that Our Lady of Guadalupe stepped into, and the light she brought with her. That contrast shows up in the color palette itself. The Our Father beads are ten millimeter African Turquoise, a stone whose blue-green tones echo both Our Lady’s traditional mantle and the hills of Tepeyac at dawn. Set against the deeper, grounded tone of the Hail Mary beads, eight millimeter Madre de Cacao wood, the turquoise reads like a break of light across a dark landscape, much the way her apparition broke into a moment of real spiritual and cultural darkness for the people of Mexico.
The Centerpiece and Crucifix
At the center of the rosary sits an antique copper Immaculate Heart of Mary medal, an original design of ours, chosen because Our Lady of Guadalupe’s apparition was, above all else, an act of maternal love. The medal is joined to an antique copper Pardon Crucifix, a crucifix historically associated with indulgences, tying this rosary to the broader tradition of prayer for the forgiveness of sin, a fitting connection for a rosary named Refuge of Sinners.
Built for Daily Use
The rosary is hand tied on acid brown 95 paracord, the same military grade cord we use across our full line, chosen for durability rather than novelty. This is not a rosary meant to sit in a drawer. It is meant to be carried, prayed daily, and passed down through a family for generations. Solid antique copper bead caps finish each connection point, and the rosary ships in a navy blue burlap pouch for protection between uses. Measuring approximately seventeen to eighteen inches in circumference, it is built to be worn or carried, though it does not generally fit over an adult’s head.
As with every rosary we build by hand from natural materials, you may notice slight variations in wood grain, stone color, and finish from one piece to the next. We see that as a feature, not a flaw. No two rosaries are identical, in the same way no two souls come to Our Lady of Guadalupe by exactly the same path.
Why the Name Refuge of Sinners
The title Refuge of Sinners is one of the traditional titles given to Mary within the Litany of Loreto, a prayer of praise recited for centuries throughout the Church. Pairing that title with the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe felt fitting to us, since her apparition was itself an act of refuge, a Mother stepping into a moment of real spiritual need for a people who had every reason to feel abandoned by the God of their conquerors, and finding instead a Mother who spoke their language and asked nothing of them but their trust.
Our Promise Behind It
Every rosary we build, including the Refuge of Sinners Rosary, is backed by our lifetime guarantee. We stand behind the craftsmanship because we intend for these rosaries to be prayed for decades, not replaced every few years. If your rosary ever needs repair, we are here to help you keep it in your hands and in your daily prayer, the same way Juan Diego kept the image entrusted to him for the rest of his life.
